Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search box goes directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and returns its results. We do not retain or record those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email is kept as needed to prepare and send a response. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive limited technical information whenever a page loads, including:
- Page-view timestamps
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- The referring site, when available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show broad usage patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine that traffic data. You may block cookies through browser controls, although doing so can change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing and correcting technical problems
- Operating the site and maintaining load performance
- Routing a query to the selected search partner
- Measuring which pages are useful or need improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect general interests
No Court-Record Data on File
We do not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of Douglas County court dockets or personal case-record data. The site publishes directions to the Douglas County Combined Court clerk, Colorado trial courts, municipal clerks, and authorized search routes. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party case profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules govern information submitted through those tools. We do not control those practices. Review the provider's policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to court clerks, Colorado Judicial Branch portals, legal-aid resources, and third-party search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may follow activity across websites for targeted advertising. That tracking occurs within their systems rather than ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. Limited data may be disclosed to:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under valid legal process
- Search providers processing a query you submit
- Analytics services measuring traffic and performance
- Advertising networks placing ads on the site
How We Protect Your Data
Standard safeguards protect the information we collect. No internet-connected system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. Information learned to have come from a minor will be deleted.
Your Data Rights
Colorado privacy and consumer-protection law may provide additional rights over personal data. Court-file disclosure follows Chief Justice Directive 05-01 and P.A.I.R.R. Rule 1; Judicial Branch administrative records follow P.A.I.R.R. Rule 2, with the Colorado Open Records Act, C.R.S. ยงยง24-72-200.1 through 206, guiding other public administrative access. At a minimum, you can:
- Request deletion of personal data
- Ask for access to information held about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Opt out of certain processing where applicable
